Lodestone Dynamics

You might be a little confused right now but, rest assured, you are in the right place.  We’ve had a separate website for Lodestone for quite some time but that has finally changed.  Lodestone Dynamics LLC is our legal name and we are doing business as Be Inspired Design, which came about in January 2011 as a part of our rebranding.

Why Be Inspired Design?

I’ve always felt a connection to Lodestone Dynamics (see story below) and yet, it has also always been a bit clumsy when I shared my business name.  Few people new what a lodestone was.  People questioned what I was saying and how I was saying it.  I almost always had to say it at least twice.  Spelling was also an issue.  Since people weren’t familiar with the word Lodestone, they weren’t sure how to spell it.

If you know anything about branding, this causes an instant disconnect for people when first hearing about your business.  This is a big problem with doing your own branding or website or other marketing materials all alone or even with only the opinions of our friends and families to go on.  I am guilty of making that mistake.

Be Inspired Design took about 4 months to flush out completely.  It was a big project that I did lead and do much of myself.  This time, the difference was the input I received from other professionals, the research I did and the countless ideas I generated as I went through the process.

Be Inspired is really what we are all about.  I love seeing people inspired in their lives.  I want to be inspired every day in everything I do.  I want that for everyone.  I love hear  what people are passionate about and helping them bring that vision to life.

Why Lodestone Dynamics?

Not many people know what a lodestone is and it’s story is quite special.  So special, that I want to share it with you.

A lodestone is magnetite but not all magnetite is lodestone.  To become lodestone, the magnetite must be struck by lightening which then makes it magnetic.  These magnetic qualities led to the invention of the compass, since they could be used to point north.  Because it was hard to explain the process of becoming magnetic, they were often associated with magical or alchemical events. Sailors used lodestones in their navigation and the Chinese appear to have been the first to discover how these stones could be used for navigation.

“Lode” originally meant a leader. The term “lodestone” is also used to refer to something or someone with strong attractive properties.

I first heard about the lodestone in September of 2007 when I was searching for a name of a networking group I was starting.  I couldn’t believe how perfect it was!  The magnet – all about attracting and bringing together.  The lightening – all about enlightenment and energy.  The compass – all about helping someone find direction.

When I decided to use the term on a bigger scale – in the name of this business I was creating, it was because of how perfect it still was.  My desire is to create the energy and the vision around attracting people to one another, both as strategic partners and to help businesses attract clients.  I am here to help you find your way in creating a successful business.  Dynamics is all about movement and taking action.

That’s how we became Lodestone Dynamics LLC.
